Bios: 

  1. Tomi Kauppinen is a computer scientist, author, artist, podcast host and keynote speaker. He is Head of Aalto Online Learning at Aalto University in Finland, where he leads work on cyber-physical and online learning through AI, spatial intelligence, XR, learning analytics, visual analytics, robotics, podcasts, videos and games. His work focuses on spatial analytics, immersive learning experiences, design thinking, human learning, and explainable,  responsible and aligned AI. He combines AI methods, geospatial technologies, information visualization, design thinking, storytelling, arts, philosophy and  cognitive systems. Tomi holds a Ph.D. (2010) and Title of Docent (2014) in Media Technology from Aalto University, and venia legendi / habilitation (2014)  in Geoinformatics from the University of Münster. He has been active in international education and AI initiatives, including European Commission funded Unite! and DigiEduHack, Nordplus funded Designing for Learning in the Nordic Countries and the International Panel on AI in Education. Tomi hosts the Cloud Reachers podcast (since 2019), has hosted  DigiEduHack podcast Season 4 for the European Commission (2025), has  authored Human (2024) and Being (2026)–futures studies books via design  fiction on future society, AI and ethics, and has co-edited Design Education Accross Disciplines (2023).
  2. Inesa Sahakyan holds a PhD in Language Sciences and is an Associate Professor at the University of Grenoble Alpes (France), where she teaches English for Specific Purposes (ESP). Her research interests include multimodality, discourse pragmatics, and visual and cognitive semiotics, with a particular focus on meaning-making practices and the cognitive processes underlying innovative and creative thinking. Alongside her academic work, she is a specialised creativity facilitator who designs and leads workshops in both in-person and online settings, helping participants explore and develop their creative potential.
  3. Evgueniya Lyu is an Associate Professor at Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA). Her teaching and research focus on applied linguistics and English for specific purposes, with a particular interest in teaching and learning aspects. She is co-head of the English department and is involved in several pedagogical projects on integrating digital tools and artificial intelligence into language teaching. Her current work explores how AI reshapes writing practices, feedback, and genre awareness in higher education, as well as how teachers and students negotiate new roles and literacies in AI-rich learning environments.

Curious mind is enough as expertise for participants but we welcome your additional expertise, e.g. on philosophy, cognitive systems, arts, state-of-the-art engineering, scientific breakthroughts, leadership and more.

Given the rise of AI in everything we need to both be excited and creative about this new tool but also aware of risks, ethics and especially consequences for the human soul.


In our event Human Soul in the Era of AI we will be sharing experiences, challenges and ideate solutions for ensuring there is empathy, wisdom, intelligence, essentially human soul in our activities with each other and with AI. 


We will frame the session on creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication and empathy as dimensions to discuss open questions and emerging solutions for ensuring Human Soul in the Era of AI  The session will serve as a stepping stone for connecting like-minded people in Unite! for creating joint future actions (joint programmes, collaborative courses, research projects, development projects).
